The numerous islands along its coast makes Surat Thani a perfect hideaway for vacationers from around the world. The ideal destination for many is the Penang-sized Koh Samui, Thailand's third largest island. The island's relaxed atmosphere is its main draw, and the area's attractions are usually small and personal. While sunbathing is a popular activity here, also popular is a visit to the Monkey School, where monkeys are trained to collect coconuts from the tall palm trees.
